Established in 1965 by founder and chairman John Murphy, MURPHY PIPELINES has provided a sustained and comprehensive design and construction service to the gas, oil, water and process industry, contributing to development of best practice and the introduction of innovative technology and processes in a safe environment.
Initially a specialist division of parent J Murphy and Sons Limited, Murphy Pipelines was established to focus on the oil and gas market sector. The company has been committed since its inception to providing a comprehensive service to the Industry, earning an enviable reputation for delivery, best practice and reliability. This has resulted in a continuous, substantial share of the workload, reflected in the diversity of current contracts and the company`s activity in gas today.
In particular the Company has provided a comprehensive and flexible service to the UK Gas Industry that is backed by over 35 years` experience in oil and gas throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Australia and South Africa. The company proactively supports Transco’s position as the best Gas Utility in the World and won the coveted “Company of the Year Award” at the 2005 Gas Industry Awards.

MURPHY PIPELINES continues to contribute proactively to the development of the gas industry by sharing best practices through its membership of industry associations and forums etc. This commitment and contribution to the industry was recognised when the Chairman and founder, John Murphy, was appointed an Honorary Companion of the Institute of Gas Engineers in 1989 and in 2001 an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Law by University College Cork for his lifetime endeavour and engineering excellence in civil engineering construction in both the United Kingdom and Ireland.
