Its NSAR gold for the rail training and assessment team

Murphy's rail training and assessment centre recently secured gold status after an assurance visit from the National Skills Academy Rail (NSAR).

Mike Healey, rail compliance manager, and Carol Massingham, rail training & assessment coordinator, took the lead on the inspection which saw NSAR inspectors review the department's continuous professional development, policies, procedures, systems and subsequent training and assessment event documentation.

In addition to a review of the documentation the NSAR inspectors also observed Tony O'Brien, lead trainer and Justin Smith, trainee trainer, deliver a Controller of Site Safety (COSS) course to ascertain the quality of provision and learner outcomes.

After the inspection the rail training team received glowing feedback from NSAR's inspectors and received the Gold Assured Provider result, which is the highest accolade that can be given on initial inspection.  The team have now been recommended for platinum status which would make them only the second provider in the UK to reach this coveted status.

Mike Healey said of the recent achievement: "I would like to thank all of the team for their contributions throughout the year, and every year, ensuring that we maintain our high standards.  The best successes are those that can be shared and  it's great for us as a team that NSAR have  acknowledged all of our hard work and given us the highest grade for the second inspection in a row."
