Description of Works

Construction of electricity substation including Reinforced Concrete substructure with steel frame and clad superstructure.

The works included a steel sheet pile cofferdam constructed around the previously built shaft. Reinforced concrete base, walls and ground floor slab completed the structure below ground.

Above ground, works consisted of a steel framed super-structure filled with brick/block construction and a profiled steel roof.

Adjacent to the substation, 2No transformer cells were constructed also on piled foundations.

Works to the substation also included a survey for unexploded wartime munitions, as the area was heavily targeted during wartime raids on London.
